The pocket camera market has long been dominated by DJI's Osmo Pocket series.
Now, Insta360 is challenging that reign with the Luna Ultra, a compact gimbal camera co-engineered with Leica.

Announced recently, the Luna Ultra directly targets Osmo Pocket users. Here is how the two cameras compare across design, specs, and availability.
Design and Build
Both cameras feature a small body with a gimbal on top.
The Luna Ultra stands out with a detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen that can be used as a remote control from up to 20 meters away.
The Osmo Pocket 4 also has a 2-inch OLED screen, but it is fixed to the body. It can flip between horizontal and vertical orientations for quick switching.
Both are lightweight and pocketable. The Luna Ultra weighs just over 200 grams.
Camera Specs and Video Quality
The Luna Ultra uses a 1-inch sensor capable of 8K video at 30fps.

It has two lenses: a wide-angle f/1.8 lens and a dedicated telephoto lens with up to 12x zoom (6x lossless).
It supports Dolby Vision, 10-bit video, and up to 14 stops of dynamic range. Leica's color science enhances image quality.
The Osmo Pocket 4 is a strong performer but uses a single lens as standard.
DJI is expected to release a Pocket 4 Pro with dual lenses soon, but for now, the Luna Ultra has the advantage.
AI and Tracking Features
The Luna Ultra features Deep Track 5.0 for automatic subject tracking, Active Zoom Tracking, and Smart Framing.
It also has built-in wireless microphone integration.

The Osmo Pocket 4 uses DJI's ActiveTrack system, which is well-regarded. Both systems work similarly, but the Luna Ultra adds more integrated audio features.
Storage and Battery
The Luna Ultra comes with 47GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards up to 1TB. Battery life is claimed at up to four hours.
The Pocket 4 offers 107GB of usable storage and also supports 1TB microSD cards. Battery life is similar at about four hours.
Availability and Pricing
The Luna Ultra is available now for $769 in the US, in white or black.
The DJI Osmo Pocket 4 is not officially sold in the US due to an FCC block since December 2025.
US consumers must buy it through unofficial channels, losing warranty and support.
