Huawei has launched the Smart Door Lock 2 Pro Enjoy Edition in China, now available for reservation on JD.
com at 2,699 yuan ($402). Shipping is scheduled to begin on September 23rd.
The new smart lock emphasizes biometric entry and a redundant power system designed to prevent users from being locked out.
3D Face Recognition and Video Doorbell
The lock uses a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor for facial recognition, mapping over 307,000 depth points to authenticate and unlock in about 0.8 seconds.
It reads faces of people between 1.2 and 2.0 meters tall and works at angles up to 30 degrees.
Liveness detection blocks attempts using photographs or 3D models, while a dynamic learning algorithm adjusts to gradual changes in appearance.
A 161-degree wide-angle camera on the front panel doubles as a video doorbell with AI human detection.
When someone rings, the lock streams live video to compatible HarmonyOS devices and supports two-way audio.
Triple-Layer Battery Backup and Security
The power system has three tiers.
The primary source is a 10,000mAh rechargeable lithium battery that runs the camera and smart features for four to six months.
When that battery is removed for charging, the lock switches to a secondary set of four AA batteries, providing up to seven months of basic unlocking.
If both are drained, a physical red emergency button triggers an internal backup that allows unlocking via fingerprint or PIN code.
Huawei says this reserve handles up to five activations over six months.
The lock features a die-cast body, a C-grade lock cylinder, and an automatic locking mechanism.
All biometric data, including face and fingerprint scans, is encrypted and stored locally on the device rather than in the cloud.
