SmartSens, a China-based semiconductor company, has introduced the SCC62HS, a 200-megapixel image sensor designed for smartphones. The move marks the company's entry into the high-resolution imaging market.
The SCC62HS is built on SmartSens' domestic high-performance Stacked BSI platform using a 55nm process. It features 0.5μm pixels within a 1/1.55-inch optical format.

The sensor aims to preserve fine details in various scenes while keeping manufacturing costs manageable for wider adoption.
It incorporates PixGain HDR, SFCPixel, and AllPix ADAF technologies.

PixGain HDR delivers a dynamic range of up to 86.3dB while reducing motion artifacts.

On-chip dual-frame fusion lowers processing demands on the smartphone chipset during HDR video recording, contributing to lower power consumption.
The sensor supports Staggered HDR and NDOL HDR modes for added flexibility.

For low-light performance, SmartSens claims a sensitivity of 3574mV/lux*s and a read noise level as low as 0.92e-.
Autofocus is handled by AllPix ADAF and Sparse PDAF systems.
AllPix ADAF uses full-pixel focusing in challenging light, while Sparse PDAF uses partial phase-detection pixels to save power during everyday use.

SmartSens has begun sampling the SCC62HS to partners. Mass production is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2026.
