Andrew and Tristan Tate have been formally indicted in Romania on multiple charges, according to an announcement from Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism on Friday.
The indictment stems from an investigation into two British men from the same family, aged 39 and 38, whom local media identified as the Tate brothers.
Andrew Tate faces charges of trafficking minors, money laundering, sex with a minor, and witness tampering. Tristan Tate was indicted on charges of complicity.
Allegations and Financial Gains
Prosecutors allege the Tates recruited victims by claiming they wanted relationships or marriage, then forced them to produce pornographic content for a webcam business.
One alleged victim was 15 when Andrew reportedly brought her from the UK to Romania and forced her to make content.
Tristan allegedly used physical aggression to coerce her.
The brothers allegedly earned over $1 million from the content and attempted to launder the money by purchasing four luxury cars.
Their Romanian lawyer, Eugen Vidineac, stated they will scrutinize the indictment and challenge any deficiencies through the judicial process.
The Tates remain in the United States fighting extradition to the UK, where they face numerous charges.
They could be tried in absentia in Romania once a judge approves.
