Lenovo is pushing the boundaries of laptop thinness with its latest concept, Project AeroBlade, unveiled at IFA 2026 in Berlin.
This 14-inch machine measures less than 10mm thick and weighs under 830 grams, significantly slimmer and lighter than typical 14-inch laptops that are usually 14-17mm thick and weigh around 1.3 kg.
Lenovo claims the concept can deliver performance comparable to its ThinkPad X1 Carbon series with Intel processors, though exact chip and memory details remain undisclosed.
AirJet solid-state cooling
The standout feature is its cooling system, developed with Frore Systems, using Active Flow architecture built around AirJet solid-state cooling modules.
Instead of traditional spinning fans, these modules generate high-speed pulsed airflow with vibrating diaphragms to dissipate heat.
The AirJet Mini Slim modules are just 2.65mm thick, consume up to 1 watt of power, and each can dissipate up to 5.25 watts of heat.
Multiple modules can be placed around the chassis, offering more design freedom for motherboard layout and pushing airflow toward the rear for a cleaner look and more internal space.
The system is also quieter than traditional fan-based cooling and accumulates less dust over time.
Project AeroBlade remains a concept, not a commercial product, but it demonstrates how solid-state cooling could enable a new generation of ultra-portable laptops that stay thin without sacrificing sustained performance.
