Qualcomm has officially entered the data center chip arena with a new brand called Dragonfly. CEO Cristiano Amon made the announcement during his COMPUTEX 2026 keynote in Taipei.

Dragonfly will cover Qualcomm's future data center products, including server CPUs, AI accelerators, and custom silicon developed with partners.

The name joins the company's existing brands Snapdragon and Dragonwing.

Snapdragon powers smartphones and Windows laptops, while Dragonwing focuses on AIoT, industrial applications, and robotics. Dragonfly fills a gap in Qualcomm's computing stack strategy.

Amon stated that Qualcomm is already collaborating with hyperscalers and industry partners on Dragonfly-related projects. However, specific products were not revealed during the keynote.

The move marks a significant expansion for Qualcomm, which has long been known for smartphone chips and more recently for Snapdragon X processors in PCs.

The data center market has become a key battleground in the AI era.

During the presentation, Amon predicted a future where AI agents become common and move seamlessly between devices, driving a surge in demand for computing infrastructure over the next several years.

For now, Dragonfly is more of a strategic direction than a product launch. Qualcomm is expected to share concrete details at its Investor Day event on June 24.

The creation of a dedicated data center brand suggests Qualcomm sees substantial opportunity in AI infrastructure.
