A fresh leak indicates that Vivo may be developing a 10x telephoto camera for its next flagship Ultra smartphone, possibly the Vivo X500 Ultra.
According to the information, the company is currently testing a 10x periscope zoom module. If confirmed, this would represent a notable departure from Vivo's current approach.

The existing Vivo X300 Ultra uses a single 200MP periscope camera with around 3.7x optical zoom. Meanwhile, competitors have already pushed further.
The Oppo Find X9 Ultra, for example, pairs a 200MP 3x telephoto with a separate 50MP 10x periscope, giving it an edge in long-range photography.

Huawei also impressed last year with the Pura 80 Ultra, which featured a 9.4x periscope solution.
With Huawei reportedly skipping a Pura Ultra successor in 2026, Vivo may see an opportunity to step up its zoom game.
The Ultra segment has increasingly become a camera race. Sensor sizes grew first, followed by larger periscope cameras, variable apertures, and advanced computational photography systems.

Vivo has long been aggressive in mobile photography, especially through its partnership with Zeiss. This makes the rumor more plausible.
For now, the 10x camera remains a test configuration. It is unclear whether Vivo will ultimately ship it.
