Xiaomi has officially entered the open-ear audio segment with its first clip-on earbuds, unveiled at a hardware event in China.

The new wearable is designed to clip onto the side of the ear rather than inserting into the ear canal, catering to users who find traditional in-ear tips uncomfortable or prefer to stay aware of their surroundings.

Priced at 849 yuan (roughly $124), the earbuds are available at a launch discount of 799 yuan ($117) for a limited time.

Lightweight build and secure fit

Each earbud weighs just 5.5 grams, making them among the lighter options in the clip-on category.

A memory titanium wire bridge holds the earbuds in place, with a clamping distance tuned to 3.4mm to ensure a secure yet comfortable fit over extended wear.

Xiaomi claims this design prevents pinching the cartilage even after hours of use.

Audio and sound leakage management

Inside, the earbuds pack an 11mm dynamic driver and support LHDC 5.0 for high-resolution audio playback.

To minimize sound leakage—a common challenge with open-ear designs—Xiaomi employs directional sound transmission and reverse sound wave technology.

For voice calls, a triple-microphone array works alongside a bone conduction microphone to filter out background noise.

Durability, battery, and design

The earbuds carry an IP57 rating, meaning they are protected against dust and can withstand immersion in water up to one meter for 30 minutes.

Battery life is rated at nine hours on a single charge, extending to 38 hours with the charging case.

The earbuds feature a glossy, partially transparent finish, while the case is wrapped in a soft-touch, leather-like material.

Color options include black, white, gold, and purple.

Software and AI features

The earbuds integrate with Xiaomi's HyperOS for audio sharing, and iOS users can access Apple's Find My network for device tracking.

Xiaomi has also packed a suite of AI tools, including real-time translation for 21 languages, live transcription, and AI-generated summaries via the XiaoAI assistant.

These features are becoming standard in new gadgets, though their real-world usefulness depends on implementation.

The earbuds come in four color options: black, white, gold, and purple.
