Whitney Houston's longtime bodyguard is setting the record straight about the singer's infamous fall during a 2009 appearance on Oprah's talk show.
Ray Watson told TMZ that Houston was not under the influence when she tumbled off the stage. He was there and says he would know.

According to Watson, Houston simply couldn't see the edge of the stage because it was in a dark spot.
Someone tried to warn her, but it was too late.

Rather than being embarrassed, Watson says Houston laughed off the incident.
This version contradicts Oprah's account, in which she claimed Houston was high as a kite at the time.
Watson, who served as Houston's personal bodyguard for over a dozen years, insists the singer just stepped in the wrong spot.

He says he would have done the same.
Houston's estate has previously criticized Oprah's narrative, blaming the fall on poor lighting. Watson doesn't think Oprah owes an apology unless she truly means it.

Watson was also the first person to discover Houston's body when she died in 2012.
