Bonnie Rotten, the wife of motorcycle builder and reality TV star Jesse James, has been formally charged with assault causing bodily injury-family violence in Texas.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Bonnie — whose real name is Alaina Antoinnette James — faces a misdemeanor charge that carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail if convicted.

The charge stems from a March domestic disturbance at the couple's Texas home.

Prosecutors allege Bonnie caused bodily injury to Jesse by punching him, scratching his face and eye area, and biting his thumb, hand, or finger.

Deputies responded to the scene after a reported disturbance.

In a probable cause affidavit, Jesse told officers that Bonnie struck him multiple times and bit his thumb.

Deputies noted visible injuries, including redness on his face and dark marks near one eye.

Despite the legal troubles, Bonnie told TMZ that she and Jesse remain a couple. She also shared a Father's Day post for him over the weekend.

After her arrest, Bonnie was released on a $3,000 bond. A judge ordered her not to threaten, harass, or assault Jesse while the case is pending.

Jesse has been named a protected person in the matter.

With charges now filed, Bonnie's legal fight enters a new phase.
