Victims are typically asked to pay a few hundred dollars in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, USDT, or Ether.

How to Stay Safe
If an offer promises early access, requests cryptocurrency, or is not on an official Rockstar or trusted retailer site, it is almost certainly a scam.
Always verify the URL, avoid random links, and remember that legitimate pre-orders will not involve cryptocurrency or shady third-party downloads.
Rockstar is expected to provide clear instructions when pre-orders go live. Until then, patience is the best defense.
