Jarron Collins says being the one to accept a posthumous ESPYs award for his late twin brother Jason was a deeply humbling experience.

Jason Collins, the first openly gay active player in major pro sports, was honored at the 2026 ESPYs with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage.

Jason passed away in May from an aggressive form of brain cancer. The tribute included a video highlighting his groundbreaking 2013 announcement and his subsequent health battle.

Jarron, who also played in the NBA, accepted the award on his brother's behalf.

He told TMZ Sports the gesture meant the world to him, especially because Jason was a big tennis fan and admired Arthur Ashe.

"We're humbled," Jarron said, "but also, like I said, very appreciative of my brother's life being recognized."

He shared that the family is "doing OK" but is still grieving the loss.

The NBA community felt the loss deeply, with teams holding moments of silence for Jason.

In his acceptance speech, Jarron pledged to carry on his brother's legacy and ensure his impact continues to grow.
