Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch new foldable smartphones in the second half of this year.
While the company has not officially confirmed any details, a fresh leak suggests significant upgrades in performance, cameras, and battery capacity.

Next-gen Kirin chipset expected
According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Huawei is planning both a tri-fold phone and a conventional book-style foldable.
The devices are likely the Huawei Mate XT 2 and Mate X8.
Both models are said to feature next-generation flagship Kirin chipsets.
The tipster indicates Huawei may skip the Kirin 9030 series in favor of the upcoming Kirin 9050 lineup.

The Kirin 9050 is expected to come in standard and Pro variants. The Mate XT 2 could debut with the Kirin 9050 Pro and ship with HarmonyOS 7.
Previous reports suggest the new chip might adopt a dual-layer vertically stacked logic architecture.
This design could improve performance and power efficiency without relying on a more advanced manufacturing process.
Display, camera, and battery details
The book-style foldable is tipped to feature an 8.15-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover screen.
The tri-fold model is expected to introduce further refinements to its folding design.

Camera upgrades may include a large 1/1.3-inch primary sensor, a periscope telephoto camera, and a compact camera module.
Batteries are expected to start with the number six, indicating capacities above 6,000mAh.

The Mate XT 2 is rumored to come in Mystic Black, Auspicious Red, Crimson Purple, and Bright White.
