A new leak suggests that most major smartphone brands are developing wide-screen foldables, following Huawei's lead.
Tipster Digital Chat Station shared the details on Weibo, listing the companies working on phones that open into a shorter, wider display instead of the usual tall shape.

Huawei and Samsung Lead the Way
Huawei is furthest along, already selling the Pura X and its larger version, the Pura X Max.
Samsung has also released a wide foldable with the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8, while offering a tall book-style variant under the Z Fold 8 Ultra branding.
What's Coming from Other Brands
Xiaomi is working on the Mix Fold 5, with leaked images showing a 4:3 display, wider than its past foldables.

Apple is also preparing its first foldable, expected to feature a 7.6-inch inner screen and a smaller cover display, with a launch around September.
Honor's foldable is said to be in testing with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip and a 7,000mAh battery.

Oppo's Find N7 is tipped for a Q1 2027 launch with a 6,500mAh battery.
Vivo is reportedly still exploring this category.
