Huawei has introduced a new smartphone form factor with the launch of the Pura X View on August 20.
The company calls it the world's first wide-screen candybar phone, designed to offer a broader horizontal view in a traditional slab design.

The device features a 6.39-inch OLED display with a 16:9.5 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2232 x 1320 pixels.
Its screen-to-body ratio reaches 96.1% thanks to ultra-thin 1.05mm bezels on all sides.
Peak brightness is rated at 6,500 nits, and the display supports high-frequency PWM dimming.

Despite housing a 7,000mAh battery, the phone remains slim at just 6.68mm thick and weighs 201 grams.
The Pura X View runs HarmonyOS 7 and is optimized for wide-screen content consumption, including video, reading, gaming, and productivity.
Color options include Leap Shadow Red, Linen Gray, Zero Degree White, and Phantom Night Black.

Reservations opened today, with in-store experiences and pre-sales starting on August 28.
Earlier leaks from tipster Digital Chat Station hinted at a high-positioned wide-screen Huawei device with a 16:10 ratio, a flagship 9-series chip, a 7,000mAh battery, and a 50MP triple camera with periscope telephoto.
The official announcement confirms the core design direction, bringing the wide-screen concept from the foldable Huawei Pura X (launched in 2025) to a non-folding phone.

By moving the wide-screen idea to traditional candybar phones, Huawei is exploring a new direction for regular smartphones that could change content consumption habits.
