Attorney Ben Crump is casting doubt on the official theory that Nolan Wells drowned off Mississippi's Gulf Coast, pointing out that the 18-year-old knew how to swim.

Crump, who represents Nolan's family, told TMZ that Nolan took swimming lessons as a child and had visited Horn Island before, making it unlikely he would have been lost or disoriented.

Nolan disappeared during a Fourth of July celebration with friends on Horn Island. Two days later, his body was found in the water off the island's coast.

Investigators have not yet found evidence of a crime, but Crump noted alleged contradictions in the stories of the three men who accompanied Nolan to the island and the girl he reportedly stayed with.
