Motorola has finally started rolling out the Android 17 beta to Edge 50 Ultra users who signed up for the program.
The update comes after a four-month wait since registration opened.

The beta build, firmware version A171UVH.42, is a hefty 5.24 GB download. It includes the August 2026 security patch along with the new Android 17 features.
A Reddit user confirmed the rollout, and those enrolled should see the update in their system settings. You can manually check by going to Settings > System update.

What's New in Android 17 Beta
The changelog is sparse, but Motorola's Android 17 beta brings several notable changes. New status bar icons, a Classic Control Center, and Landscape Stereo are included.
Enhanced HDR Brightness and battery health features are also part of the update. The Live Updates feature now appears in the camera cutout, similar to Apple's Dynamic Island.

Lock screen clocks get new typography and style options, though the depth effect is missing.
Taking screenshots is now easier with a three-finger swipe-down gesture, and split-screen uses the same gesture.

Other improvements include fixing overlapping network icons, a new volume interface, stronger haptics, a new Moto assistant, and additional customization options.
