The tourist who was flung into the air by a bison in a viral Yellowstone National Park video has been identified as Carl Isom-McDaniel.
The 65-year-old man suffered multiple broken bones in the attack on Friday at the Bridge Bay Campground near Yellowstone Lake.

Despite his severe injuries, Isom-McDaniel was cracking jokes as he lay in pain, according to witnesses.
The incident occurred while he was traveling with his grandson.
They had stopped to take photos of the bison, maintaining what appeared to be the recommended distance of at least 75 feet.

A witness told The New York Times that the bison became enraged and charged at Isom-McDaniel.
Viral video shows him running around trees trying to escape before the animal caught up and tossed him into the air like a rag doll.

Park officials note that bison can be particularly aggressive during mating season, as testosterone levels surge.
After the attack, bystanders including the photographer who captured the video managed to distract the bison by yelling and rushing toward it, causing the animal to flee.
An ambulance arrived and transported Isom-McDaniel to a local hospital for treatment.

Despite the ordeal, the grandfather is reportedly in good spirits, joking about the wild encounter.
