Baltimore Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell's brother, Ciarre Campbell, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of their mother, Nateal Campbell.
Nateal Campbell, 71, was found unresponsive Tuesday inside her upscale Buckhead townhome after a family member requested a welfare check, according to WSB-TV.

Atlanta police officers arriving at the scene observed a male who "appeared to have barricaded himself inside the home," and he was subsequently arrested.
Ciarre Campbell was booked into the Fulton County Jail on charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to online jail records.
Lt.
Christapher Butler noted that police had responded to Nateal's address in April for a possible arson incident and that there were "indications" of potential mental health issues involving someone at the address.

It remains unclear whether Ciarre lived with his mother.
Ciarre's attorney, Jay Abt, declined to comment on his client's living situation or mental state but declared his client's innocence.
"We look forward to his day in court," Abt said. "I'm honored to defend him and, most importantly, the Campbell family.
I'm asking on their behalf that the public respect their privacy at this time."

Abt also confirmed that police obtained search warrants for the home, clothing, and DNA.
The Campbell family released a statement expressing their grief: "While the details of her passing are still being investigated, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with our father, her beloved Chuck, and in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We ask for privacy at this time so that we may honor her and share in our overwhelming grief privately and as a family."
