Xiaomi is putting battery life at the center of its upcoming flagship.
The Xiaomi 17 Max reportedly lasts more than twice as long as the iPhone 17 Pro Max in a video playback test.

In a teaser video shared by Xiaomi, the 17 Max ran for 33.3 hours of continuous screen-on time during streaming.
That result was enough to outlast two iPhone 17 Pro Max units combined under identical conditions.
Official endurance tests should be taken with caution. Brands often optimize these demos heavily.
Still, even allowing for marketing exaggeration, the result points to genuinely massive battery endurance.

8,000mAh Battery Powers the 17 Max
The reason for the impressive battery life is clear. The Xiaomi 17 Max is the first phone in Xiaomi's history to pack an 8,000mAh battery.
Other hardware details are flagship-level.
The phone features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, and Leica-branded cameras led by a new 200MP main sensor.

Xiaomi is also including 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and IP68 water resistance. The official unveiling is scheduled for May 21 in China.
At the same event, Xiaomi is expected to announce the Xiaomi Band 10 Pro, new clip-on earphones, and the YU7 GT electric SUV.
Battery life has become a bigger focus across the smartphone industry. Brands are competing to push silicon-carbon battery technology further.
Even in that context, 8,000mAh is still unusually large for a mainstream flagship phone.
