Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 series promised a flatter crease thanks to its new “Flex Titanium” support structure.
Early impressions showed the crease was almost invisible, but a week later, that seems to have changed.

The Z Fold 8 series is set to go on sale on August 7, and only creators have the devices so far.
One of them shared videos on X comparing brand-new units with review units that have been used for a week.
The videos show that the crease on both the standard Z Fold 8 and the Z Fold 8 Ultra becomes more visible after a week of use.
The difference is immediately noticeable on both models.

In comparison, the Oppo Find N6 maintained its crease much better after about a week of use.
This raises questions about the long-term durability of Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology.
Initial impressions vs. reality
When the Z Fold 8 was first showcased around a week ago, the crease was almost invisible.
That was impressive because the Galaxy Z Fold 7 still had a noticeable crease, while some Chinese foldables like the Oppo Find N6 had already made the crease far less visible.
Ice Universe posted a tweet on July 23, the day after the Galaxy Unpacked event, comparing the crease of four devices: Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Fold 8, Oppo Find N6, and the Vivo X Fold 6.

The crease on the Z Fold 8 looked the flattest.
The Oppo Find N6, sitting right next to the Fold 8, still had a quite visible crease.
It appeared that Samsung had finally fixed the problem, and Galaxy Foldables would be the best in this aspect until the next release.
However, the recent videos suggest that the crease may become more pronounced with use.

It will be interesting to see how Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology holds up over the next year before the company unveils its successor.
