AOC has introduced a new portable monitor that uses electronic paper instead of a standard LCD or OLED panel.

The AOC 13T5S is a 13.3-inch color E Ink monitor now available in China for 4,599 yuan ($679).

Display and Performance

The monitor features E Ink's Kaleido 3 technology with a native resolution of 3200 x 2400.

Black-and-white text displays at 300 PPI, while color content drops to 150 PPI due to the color e-paper structure.

An Oxide (IGZO) TFT backplane enables a 30Hz refresh rate, which is fast for an E Ink panel.

This makes scrolling and cursor movements smoother than older e-paper screens, though not suitable for gaming or video.

The fully laminated panel is covered with 0.4mm AG anti-glare glass for a paper-like feel.

AOC includes ComfortGaze front lighting, allowing users to adjust brightness and color temperature.

To reduce ghosting, the 13T5S uses a Dual T2000 TCON controller and AI-assisted ghosting reduction.

This system detects residual images and performs localized refreshes without flashing the entire screen.

Design and Connectivity

The monitor has an anodized aluminum alloy chassis measuring 8mm thick and weighing about 700 grams.

It offers two full-function USB-C ports for power, video, and data over a single cable.

It is plug-and-play with Windows PCs, while macOS support requires a future OTG software update.
