The New York congresswoman shared the news on Instagram, noting she usually keeps her personal life private but wanted to speak publicly about her experience.
AOC explained she had been considering the decision for a long time and wanted to share what she was learning with other women.
She said the process can feel "very daunting," especially because women often aren't given enough information about their bodies and reproductive health at different life stages.

In a video on her Instagram Story, Ocasio-Cortez gave a glimpse of the medical side, appearing alongside her French bulldog, Deco, as she discussed the medication and administered an injection to herself.
After the injection, she reassured herself, saying it "wasn't so bad."

The 36-year-old Democrat has been outspoken about reproductive health and women's rights. Following the Supreme Court's 2022 decision overturning Roe v.
Wade, she called on men to become more vocal advocates for reproductive freedom.
Recently, AOC also commented on the "looksmaxxing" trend, saying women face relentless body-image pressures and she'd hate to see young men get dragged into the same cycle.

Now, Ocasio-Cortez is using her own experience to highlight another aspect of reproductive health that she says women aren't always prepared to navigate.
