A CBS news crew in Chicago was allegedly attacked by several men in a tow truck during a racially charged incident on Monday afternoon.
Three people are now in custody, according to police.

The incident occurred as a reporter and photographer were preparing to go live near the Adler Planetarium.
A tow truck parked in front of their van, and a man jumped out with his dog, ordering the canine to attack the crew while yelling racial slurs, witnesses told police.

When the dog did not attack, one of the tow truck operators became enraged.
He smashed the photographer's camera and used a traffic cone to break the news van's windshield, according to police and witnesses.
The three men then fled in the tow truck. Detectives are questioning three persons of interest, but no charges have been announced yet.

Fortunately, no one was physically injured.
