Dianna Russini's salary at The Athletic was nearly $800,000 a year, according to The New York Times Company, the outlet's parent organization.
That made her one of the highest-paid journalists at the mass media corporation.

The veteran NFL reporter was in the middle of contract renewal talks when the scandal erupted. Her existing deal was set to expire at the end of June.
As previously reported, Russini stepped away from The Athletic and her podcast in April after photos of her with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel surfaced.

Both are married to other people.

Additional photos and videos obtained by TMZ show the pair looking particularly friendly over the years, including during Vrabel's time with the Tennessee Titans.
While both marriages appear to have survived the drama, replacing an $800K salary is a lot tougher than surviving a relationship scandal.

Vrabel did not lose his job, which reportedly pays him around $14 million to $17 million.
