Dangbei has introduced the X9 Max, a new 4K home theater projector, in China.
It is priced at 6,999 yuan, roughly $1,044, and is available through JD. com.
The projector uses a triple-laser light source and offers physical lens adjustments for flexible installation in living rooms and dedicated home theaters.
Brightness and image quality
At the core of the X9 Max is a 0.47-inch DMD chip paired with a QuaLas 42 pure RGB laser system.
Dangbei rates the brightness at 5,000 ISO lumens, or 4,800 CVIA lumens.
That output is intended to keep the picture visible in rooms with ambient daylight.
The projector supports Dolby Vision, covers the full DCI-P3 color gamut, and has a native contrast ratio of 1,600:1.
An optical lens shift and zoom system allows users to reposition the image without moving the unit.
It supports ±135% vertical and ±50% horizontal lens shift, plus a 1.2-1.5:1 optical zoom that maintains 4K quality.
Screen sizes can range from 80 to 200 inches, making it adaptable to different room layouts.
Gaming, connectivity, and smart features
For gaming, the X9 Max includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, one with eARC for external audio.
It can handle 4K at 60Hz or switch to 1080p for a 240Hz refresh rate.
Support for Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low Latency Mode, along with a reported input lag as low as 1ms under specific settings, positions it as a display for current-generation consoles.
Internally, the projector runs on a MediaTek MT9681 processor with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
It uses Dangbei’s Super AI OS 6.0 and integrates with Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem via the Mijia app and HyperConnect.
Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and standard casting protocols such as Apple AirPlay. Audio is handled by a pair of built-in 12W speakers.
The projector has a matte Space Gray finish and weighs just under 6kg. An upgraded cooling system is designed to keep fan noise below 28dB.
It ships with a shock-resistant EPP carrying bag for easier transport or storage.
