Hip hop producer Tay Keith died from the toxic effects of drugs, according to the Nashville Medical Examiner's Office.
The medical examiner found ketamine and mitragynine in his system at the time of his death.
Mitragynine is a chemical compound found in kratom, a tree from Southeast Asia that affects the brain's opioid receptors.
It is unclear whether he was using kratom, which is federally legal, or if he came into contact with the drug another way.
The medical examiner also noted nicotine and ethanol in his system, along with mild coronary artery disease.
Found in Nashville Apartment
Tay Keith was found dead by police during a welfare check at his Nashville apartment in June.
Foul play was not suspected, and the medical examiner noted he was found surrounded by drug paraphernalia.
On 911 audio, his girlfriend could be heard panicking as she detailed the situation to the dispatcher.
She had called for a wellness check before learning he was dead.
Tay Keith worked with numerous famous artists, including Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, Eminem, and Lil Baby.
Drake penned an emotional post in his honor shortly after he passed.
He left behind a massive estate and apparently had no will when he passed.
He was 29 years old.
