Ed Sheeran's team is coordinating with the Philadelphia Police Department to secure his upcoming concert at Lincoln Financial Field.

The planning follows ongoing controversy surrounding his Loop Tour.

Philly PD spokesperson Jasmine Reilly told TMZ that officers are talking to his team to make sure all appropriate measures are taken for his safety.

Reilly said a sizable number of officers will be deployed for Saturday's concert.

It is the first show since Macklemore was removed from the tour.

Law enforcement sources said the officers will be posted inside and outside the stadium.

Attendees will pass through metal detectors, and some will undergo pat-downs.

The sources said there have been no threats against Ed as of now, though that could change before Saturday night.

Backlash and Planned Protest

Ed has faced major backlash since one of his opening acts was kicked off the tour over remarks made during a New Jersey concert that some perceived as inflammatory and pro-Palestine.

A protest by a group of pro-Palestine demonstrators is planned outside the Philly concert.

Macklemore posted an Instagram statement saying Ed called him and told him that Robert Kraft, owner of Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, wanted the rapper gone from the tour.

According to Macklemore, Ed also said that if he did not follow their instructions, his gigs would be cut from future venues, including Gillette Stadium.

Macklemore was then booted from the tour, prompting the remaining three opening acts to walk away in solidarity, citing the need for free speech.

Ed released his own statement blaming the promoters for getting rid of Macklemore while claiming he had nothing to do with it.

Many people are not buying Ed's explanation, including Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters, who called Ed a prick during a video diatribe about what he believes happened.
