Dispatch audio from the deadly Los Angeles news helicopter crash has surfaced, capturing the frantic emergency response as authorities scrambled to coordinate help.
The audio, obtained by TMZ, reveals law enforcement calling for multiple police and fire units after a helicopter collided with a structure.
A dispatcher is later heard clarifying that the downed chopper was a news helicopter, prompting multiple units to rush to the fatal scene.
Officers then began closing off surrounding streets due to concerns over fuel leakage from the wreckage.
Victims and Investigation
The helicopter crashed while the news crew was covering a deadly bus crash that killed at least two others in the Chatsworth area.
NBC4 later confirmed on-air that the aircraft belonged to them.
Reporter Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw were identified as the victims in the helicopter.
The pedestrian who died in the crash has not yet been identified.
NBC Los Angeles and Telemundo 52 wrote in a joint statement, "We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of those who lost their lives."
It remains unclear what caused the crash, and the National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation.
