Newly released video shows firefighters desperately trying to pull survivors from the charred cockpit of an Amazon cargo plane that crashed in Miami on Sunday.
The footage reveals several firefighters gathered around a ladder extending from the tarmac to the cockpit window, with one firefighter perched on top attempting to remove people from inside the aircraft.
The plane, which had flown from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Miami International Airport, overshot the runway and crashed into vehicles on a nearby highway before coming to rest in a field.
Five people were killed and five others injured in the incident, with some victims trapped inside their vehicles.
According to the Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue, three of the injured are in critical condition at a hospital, while the other two were hospitalized after assessment, though their conditions were not disclosed.
Dispatch audio from Broadcastify indicated that the plane collided with a truck on the roadway, and authorities said one of the deceased was found under the plane's right wing.
Firefighters rushed to extinguish flames that erupted in the wreckage, with Fox News reporting a fire flared inside one of the engines.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, which grounded flights at Miami International Airport for most of the afternoon.
