Veteran NFL running back Miles Sanders was arrested in Pennsylvania and charged with DUI, according to court records.

The 29-year-old free agent faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and careless driving.

Sanders was arrested on June 8 in Churchill Borough, near Pittsburgh, where he grew up.

Police reported finding Sanders slumped over in the driver's seat of a car stopped in the middle of the road, appearing "in and out of consciousness."

According to police, Sanders failed a field sobriety test, reeked of alcohol, and admitted to drinking earlier that day.

A breath test confirmed alcohol in his system, and police also discovered marijuana in his vehicle.

Sanders played college football at Penn State before being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

He spent four seasons with the Eagles, two with the Carolina Panthers, and last year with the Dallas Cowboys.

He remains unsigned just two weeks before the 2026 NFL season begins.

His lawyer, Phil DiLucente, told CBS Pittsburgh, "This is a private matter that has not even reached the preliminary hearing stage and there will be no further comment."

Sanders is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 28.
