Google has officially entered the item tracker market with the Pixel Tag, unveiled at its Made by Google event alongside the Pixel 11 series.
The Pixel Tag is Google's first official alternative to Apple's AirTag, designed for Android users.

It comes in a single Fog color, featuring a metal front and polycarbonate back.
The device measures 28 x 46.1 x 5.4 mm and weighs 11.8 grams with the battery installed.
A user-replaceable CR2032 battery provides over a year of use.

Inside, the Pixel Tag packs an accelerometer and supports ultra-wideband (UWB) tracking.

A built-in speaker triggers audible alerts to help locate the tag.
It carries an IP67 rating, surviving water immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.
To use the Pixel Tag, you'll need Android 9 or later.

For Bluetooth Channel Sounding, you'll need Android 16 and Bluetooth 6.0 support.
Bluetooth Channel Sounding offers lower power use but less precision than UWB, with accuracy within 0.3 to 0.5 meters.
The Pixel Tag costs $29 for a single unit or $99 for a four-pack.
It will be available in markets across Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

Google isn't the first to enter this space; Xiaomi launched a cross-platform tracker in February.
