Instagram offers official download options for your own content, but there is no universal button to save public posts from other users.

Browser-based downloaders provide a practical alternative for publicly accessible media.

These services work by processing a public Instagram URL and returning the available media file.

The process is similar on Android and iPhone, and it also works on desktop computers.

Downloading Videos and Reels on Mobile

Open Instagram on your Android phone or iPhone and find the video, Reel, or post you want to save.

Tap the three-dot menu and select Copy Link; for Stories, use the sharing options to copy the link.

Open Chrome on Android or Safari/Chrome on iPhone. You do not need to install a separate downloader app.

Visit a browser-based Instagram downloader such as SaveFromIns. Paste the copied URL into the input field and tap Download.

If multiple quality options appear, choose your preferred resolution. Higher-resolution files take up more storage space.

On Android, the file usually lands in the Downloads folder.

On iPhone, it may be saved through the Files app; for compatible videos, use Share > Save Video to move it to Photos.

Saving Stories, Photos, and Carousels

Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours, but publicly accessible Stories can be processed by browser tools while they are live.

Copy the Story link and paste it into the downloader.

The same method works for photos, which are usually provided as JPG files.

Carousel posts may contain multiple photos and videos, and these items often need to be downloaded individually.

Note that downloaded quality depends on what Instagram makes available, so the file may not match the creator's original upload.

On Windows or Mac, open Instagram in a desktop browser, copy the URL from the address bar, and paste it into the downloader in another tab.

Click Download and choose the quality if offered.

Videos are generally saved as MP4 files, while images are commonly JPG. These formats work across Android, iPhone, Windows, and Mac.

Before using third-party tools, check Instagram's own download features.

You can save your own Stories before they expire and export your account data, but these options do not cover content from other public accounts.

Private-account content is not publicly accessible, so browser-based downloaders cannot legitimately retrieve it. Be cautious of websites claiming to bypass private restrictions and never provide your Instagram credentials.
