The preliminary hearing for D4vd, the singer charged with murdering a 14-year-old girl, has begun.
Over the next week, prosecutors will present evidence to convince a judge that a trial is warranted.

D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, faces charges of first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains.
The charges stem from the stabbing death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez in April.
Evidence Presented
Prosecutors say they have DNA evidence, surveillance footage, text messages, and phone records. Court documents allege D4vd began a sexual relationship with Celeste when she was 13.

According to prosecutors, Celeste threatened to expose the relationship and ruin D4vd's music career.
They claim he invited her to his Hollywood Hills home, murdered her, and used a chainsaw to dismember her body.
Her remains were allegedly placed in two body bags in the front trunk of his Tesla.
Celeste's body was found seven months after her death, when D4vd's Tesla was towed to a Hollywood impound lot.

D4vd was arrested in April and has pleaded not guilty. He remains in custody.
Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty. During the preliminary hearing, witnesses may be called and questioned by both sides.
Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.

D4vd's former friend Aysia Collins has said she confronted him about his relationship with Celeste, claiming he manipulated her into believing the girl was an adult.
