Xiaomi has opened pre-orders in China for its Mijia Portable Coffee Machine.
The battery-powered espresso maker is priced at a promotional 594.15 yuan ($88), down from 699 yuan ($102).
Shipping is scheduled to begin on July 2nd.
The device is designed for portability. It fits in a backpack and does not require a wall outlet to operate.
Specifications and Features
The coffee maker resembles a travel thermos, measuring 24.5cm tall and 7.15cm wide. Inside, it houses a water pump capable of 20 bars of pressure.
It uses a 2-in-1 brewing system that accepts both standard coffee capsules and loose coffee grounds. An included stainless steel basket allows for custom roasts.
A ceramic heating system with PID control maintains a steady 92°C during extraction. The brewing process takes about 45 seconds.
Users can pour in pre-heated water for a hot shot or use cold water for a cold extraction.
Power comes from three built-in 2,500mAh batteries. Charging is via a 45W USB-C port, taking about 80 minutes for a full charge.
A 20 to 80% top-up takes roughly half an hour.
Battery life varies by brewing method. The machine can yield up to 400 cups in unheated quick extraction mode.
That drops to just over three continuous cups when actively heating water.
The coffee maker has an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance. The brewing chamber is fully detachable and can be rinsed under a tap.
Accessories include an aluminum stand, a storage bag, and a double-walled stainless steel cup. Currently, the device is only available in China, with no word on international release.
