Lenovo has officially returned to the smartphone market with the launch of the Legion Y70 gaming phone in China.

The company had paused its smartphone lineup after the Legion Y90 in 2022.

The new device targets the gaming segment with flagship-grade hardware and advanced cooling technology.

Display and Performance

The Legion Y70 features a 6.82-inch BOE Q10 OLED display with 2K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate.

It uses LTPO technology for adaptive refresh rates and supports Dolby Vision.

Lenovo claims the panel can reach up to 7,000 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, the phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor.

It is paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM running at up to 9,600 Mbps and UFS 4.1 storage.

Memory options include 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM with 512GB or 1TB storage.

For thermal management, Lenovo uses a 5,500 mm² vapor chamber cooling system.

The company says it can reduce CPU temperatures by up to 7 degrees Celsius during heavy workloads.

Battery and Cameras

The Legion Y70 packs an 8,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging and bypass charging support.

Lenovo claims the battery can maintain long-term health for up to 1,200 charging cycles.

On the camera front, the phone sports a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-710 main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera with 2.5cm macro capability, and a 32-megapixel front camera.

Additional features include IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, eSIM support, a 500Hz gyroscope, and Android 16 with Lenovo's Tianxi AI 4.0 software.

Price and Availability

The Lenovo Legion Y70 is available for pre-order in China in Ice Soul White and Carbon Black colors.

Pricing starts at CNY 3,099 (around $450) for the 12GB + 256GB model.
