A man waving a Palestinian flag ran onto the outfield during Friday night's Subway Series opener between the Yankees and the Mets, briefly stopping play before security tackled and restrained him.
The man, wearing a baseball jersey with the words "No Kings," was chased by security guards during the seventh inning, according to video of the incident.
Guards caught up to him, knocked him to the ground, and escorted him off the field as fans chanted "USA!"
The Athletic reported that he entered the field at exactly 9:11 PM, on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Many in the packed crowd at Yankee Stadium in The Bronx appeared angered by the political statement, with some throwing beer cans at the man as police and security led him away.
The NYPD told TMZ that the man, identified as 38-year-old Kelly Marcucci, was arrested and charged with trespass and violating a misdemeanor local ordinance.
Marcucci received a desk appearance ticket and will have to answer the charges in court at a later date.
Before the game, several key members of the 2001 Yankees team paid tribute to the nearly 3,000 people killed on 9/11.
Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius, and Mariano Rivera were among those honoring the victims.
