Nothing has expanded its Nothing OS 5.0 Open Beta to the Phone (4a) Pro, following the initial rollout to the flagship Phone (3) last month.
The Android 17-based update arrives a week later than the company promised and weighs 2.73GB.
Users must sign up for the beta program to receive the update.
What the Beta Brings
Nothing OS 5.0 is a major upgrade with a redesigned Control Center, Lucent themes, and expanded lock screen customizations.
The update also introduces wallpaper-adaptive colors for app icons and quick settings tiles, along with new widgets like Away Time and Collector.
AI capabilities are a key focus, featuring an upgraded on-voice engine, MCP support, and a Smart Selection tool in Essential Space that organizes photos and screen captures.
An Essential Apps Builder lets users create custom apps using text prompts.
A dedicated Glyph app is now available, giving users control over lighting animations, ringtone schedules, and sounds.
The package also includes Android 17 core features such as expanded Dark Mode, cross-platform Quick Share, a floating screen recorder, improved privacy indicators, and isolated audio controls.
Two Upgrades Still Missing
Two new clock faces are part of Nothing OS 5.0: Gooey and Micrographics.
Gooey, with a bold and playful design, is rolling out to beta devices.
Micrographics, inspired by mechanical typography, is still in final development and is not yet available on the Phone (4a) Pro.
Nothing has also confirmed that the refreshed home screen is under development.
Both unfinished upgrades are set to ship with the general release starting in October.
