TECNO has released the CAMON Slim 5G just two weeks after the 4G version, and it brings significant upgrades.
The new model addresses the main criticisms of its predecessor, including performance, camera versatility, and connectivity.
Design and Build
The CAMON Slim 5G retains the ultra-thin 6.39mm profile, but switches to a flat display, making the frame slightly thicker and more comfortable to hold.
The back now features a small indicator light instead of the LED matrix, and the camera module is vertically aligned, causing a slight wobble on flat surfaces.
It comes with IP68 and IP69K water and dust resistance, plus US military-grade drop certification.
The Burgundy Red unit we tested has a handwritten-style 'CAMON' logo next to the camera.
The phone also includes stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an infrared remote, NFC, and a customizable One-Tap button.
A single press triggers FlashMemo, which summarizes pages and stores them in MindHub.
Performance and Battery
Powered by the Dimensity 7300e chip, the 5G version offers noticeably better performance than the 4G model.
It supports 5G connectivity and handles large 3D games smoothly with reduced graphics settings.
The battery is slightly larger than the 4G version, but charging is capped at 45W, which is still decent.
In daily use, battery life and charging speeds are comparable between the two models.
Software-wise, it runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16, with a clean interface and smooth animations. TECNO promises three major Android updates over five years.
Display and Camera
The 6.78-inch AMOLED display offers a 144Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort. The bezels are even on all sides, though not ultra-slim.
The main camera is a 50MP Sony sensor, larger than the one on the 4G model, and it now includes an ultra-wide lens.
Daytime shots are sharp, and low-light performance is improved with cleaner images and faster shutter speeds.
Video recording remains capped at 2K 30FPS, which is a minor disappointment, but the quality and stabilization are solid.
Overall, the CAMON Slim 5G fixes the main drawbacks of the 4G version, making it a more compelling option for those who want a slim phone without compromising on performance and camera versatility.
