Bay Area rapper E-40 has a message for women: before giving money to any self-proclaimed San Francisco 49ers player, check with him first.

The legendary rapper, also known as 40 Water, discussed the case of Daejon Love during a visit to TMZ offices this week.

Love is accused of defrauding 26 women out of $1.3 million by claiming to be an NFL wide receiver and promising big returns on investments.

Instead, authorities say he pocketed the money and now faces criminal charges that could lead to years in prison.

"If he don't know Water, if he don't know 40 Water, and he claims 49er, if I ain't never heard of him or met him, he's not a Niner," E-40 said.

He added, "They should have asked me before they gave him the money or whatever and all the scamming s***."

More from E-40

Beyond the fake player, E-40 also talked about his Bay Area athletes Mt. Rushmore, the Warriors dynasty, and his upcoming performance at the Stanford vs. Miami football game.

The invite came from none other than Andrew Luck, the former Stanford and NFL quarterback.
