Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi 17 5G in India, a budget smartphone that emphasizes battery endurance and a large screen.

The device features a 6.9-inch LCD with 1600 x 720 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

It offers a typical brightness of 675 nits, reaching up to 825 nits in high-brightness mode.

The display also holds TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free performance, and circadian-friendly viewing.

Performance and camera

Under the hood, the Redmi 17 5G runs on the 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset with speeds up to 2.4GHz.

It comes with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, expandable via microSD up to 2TB.

The phone boots Xiaomi HyperOS 3.

For photography, it sports a 50-megapixel f/1.8 primary camera and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter, both capable of 1080p video at 30fps.

Battery and additional features

A 7,900mAh battery powers the device, offering up to 109 hours of music playback, 28 hours of video playback, 53 hours of calling, and 10 hours of video recording.

It supports 45W turbo charging and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging.

The phone also includes dual stereo speakers with a 300% volume boost, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and an IP64 rating.

It features Wet Touch technology for use with wet or oily fingers.

On the rear, a customizable dynamic RGB light indicates notifications, charging status, and camera alerts.

Pricing and availability

The Redmi 17 5G will be available in India starting September 10th.

Pricing begins at ₹23,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model, while the 8GB RAM variant costs ₹26,999.

It will be sold in black, blue, and an orange vegan leather finish through Amazon India, Xiaomi’s website, and local retail stores.
