Vivo has officially confirmed the camera specifications for its upcoming X500 smartphone.
The confirmation comes from Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao, who revealed key details ahead of the expected launch later this month in China.
The X500 will feature a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-838 primary sensor, measuring 1/1.28-inch.
This marks the largest main camera sensor ever used on an X-series standard edition.
The main camera will also include Zeiss gimbal-level stabilization with a CIPA 5.5 rating, enhancing both photography and video recording.
This is a notable shift from the X300, which used a custom 200-megapixel HPB main camera.
For telephoto capabilities, the X500 is expected to use a 64-megapixel Sony LYTIA-610 sensor, similar to the one found in the X500 Pro's APO telephoto camera.
This telephoto sensor will support CIPA 5.5 stabilization and 4K video recording at 120fps.
The phone is also said to support Vivo's compact Lipstick 200 telephoto extender, potentially making it an interesting option for concert photography.
These official details align with a previous leak from DCS, which suggested a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto with a 1/2-inch sensor and 70mm equivalent focal length.
Telephoto macro support was also mentioned as under consideration.
A 50-megapixel autofocus selfie camera is rumored, though not yet confirmed.
Other reported specifications include a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display, a Dimensity 9500-series chipset, and a 7,500mAh battery.
The device has received 3C certification with support for 90W wired charging, while 40W wireless charging may return from the previous generation.
It is expected to run OriginOS 7 based on Android 17.
