Dell has introduced the 14S, a lightweight laptop designed for users who want premium features without the XPS price tag.
The device features a colorful aluminum chassis and a high-resolution display option, aiming at students and everyday users.
Design and display
Weighing around 2.5 pounds and measuring 13.5mm thick, the Dell 14S is easy to carry for school, work, or travel.
It comes in four finishes: Linen, Dusty Rose, Washed Denim, and Velvet Green.
The base model sports a 14-inch 1920×1200 panel with 60Hz refresh rate and 300 nits brightness.
An upgrade option offers a 2880×1800 display with 120Hz refresh rate, 450 nits brightness, and full sRGB coverage.
Both panels use a 16:10 aspect ratio, providing extra vertical space for documents and websites.
Performance and battery
Under the hood, the Dell 14S is powered by Intel Core 5 Series 3 or Core 7 Series 3 processors with integrated graphics.
Storage options range from 256GB to 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, while memory is available in 8GB or 16GB LPDDR5x.
Since the memory is onboard and not upgradeable, the 16GB version is recommended for future-proofing.
The laptop packs a 61.2Wh battery, with Dell claiming up to 21 hours of Netflix streaming and 27 hours of local video playback.
Connectivity and features
Connectivity includes two USB-C ports with Power Delivery, HDMI, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Wi-Fi 6E, but no USB-A port.
It also features a 1080p webcam, dual far-field microphones, stereo speakers, and Windows Hello support.
Pricing and availability
Dell says the 14S will arrive in North America this fall, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
The full configuration lineup has not been revealed yet, so the final value will depend on the cost of the higher-resolution model.
