NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani faced a hostile crowd at a Staten Island National Night Out Against Crime event on Tuesday night.
The roughly 3,500 attendees made their feelings clear as he approached the podium.

Video from the event shows boos erupting, with some people shouting profanities and giving thumbs-down gestures.
Despite the reception, Mamdani managed to wish everyone a "Happy Night Out Against Crime" before stepping away in less than a minute.

The mayor didn't leave immediately, though. He reportedly stayed briefly to pose for photos with some attendees.
Earlier Events Were Warmer
The Staten Island reception was a stark contrast to earlier that evening.

Mamdani appeared alongside NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch at National Night Out events in Brooklyn and Harlem, where he praised officers for helping reduce crime.
Staten Island has never been a stronghold for Mamdani.

In the 2025 mayoral election, it was the only borough he lost, capturing just 23% of the vote.
