Courtney Love once asked the Seattle Police Department to give her the death investigation file on Kurt Cobain — and keep no copies.

A detective involved in the case called the request outrageous.

The demand was made in October 1995, about 18 months after the Nirvana frontman died by suicide in their Seattle home.

The information comes from the investigative group "Who Killed Kurt?" citing a newly unearthed document.

Love's lawyer sent a letter to Seattle's then-police chief requesting the entire file, including photos from the scene.

Kurt Cobain was found dead in his Seattle home in April 1994, and his death was ruled a suicide.

The case was reviewed again in 2014, and the outcome remained the same — he shot himself.

Retired Seattle police Capt.

Neil Low, who originally supported the suicide verdict but has since changed his view to homicide, told the New York Post that Love's request was "absurd."

Police did not comply with the demand.

Low said Love's camp claimed multiple people were trying to make money by leaking information from the file.

Low questioned, "How could there be public record compliance if the police gave everything to this attorney and his law firm?

Where would the accountability be?"

Love has always agreed with police that Kurt died by suicide, but she has faced decades of speculation from those who believe he was murdered and the case was covered up.
