NBC has ramped up security measures outside the 'TODAY' show studio following a frightening security breach on Thursday.
Video obtained by TMZ shows a noticeably heavier security presence outside the plaza and Studio 1A entrance on Friday morning.

In addition to the usual staff, multiple private NBC security guards and NYPD officers were stationed around the area.
Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ the heightened security is permanent. The network is determined to prevent any copycat incidents after the shocking breach.

Andrew Truelove allegedly slipped past security by entering through the 'TODAY' plaza, made his way into a restricted backstage area, and confronted anchor Craig Melvin.
He reportedly lunged at Melvin while yelling the N-word.
Melvin and Al Roker have been granted court-ordered protection against Truelove. His attorney, Lawrence Gerzog, told TMZ a judge ordered Truelove to stay away from both hosts.

Truelove is prohibited from going near Melvin or Roker at NBC or at their homes.
He is currently held at Rikers Island on $20,000 bail, facing multiple hate crime charges.

Melvin briefly addressed the ordeal during Friday's broadcast, telling viewers he was grateful the suspect had been arrested and that no one was hurt.
