Oppo has expanded its compact premium smartphone lineup with the launch of the Reno 16.
While it may seem like the natural successor to the Reno 15 Pro Mini, the two devices target different user priorities in performance, cameras, and battery life.

Design and display
Both phones feature a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.
The Reno 15 Pro Mini is slightly slimmer and lighter at around 187g, while the Reno 16 weighs about 193g due to its larger battery.
Both offer premium build quality, metal frames, and IP69-rated dust and water resistance, though the Reno 16 carries the newer IP69K certification.
For portability, the Reno 15 Pro Mini has a slight edge.
Performance
The Reno 15 Pro Mini is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset with 12GB RAM, offering stronger raw performance than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the Reno 16.
The Dimensity chip delivers higher CPU and GPU performance, making it better for gaming and power users.
The Reno 16 focuses on efficiency and AI features. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 handles everyday tasks smoothly but is not designed for sustained heavy workloads.
Battery and charging
The Reno 16 packs a larger 6,700mAh battery compared to the 6,500mAh unit in the Reno 15 Pro Mini.

Both support 80W wired fast charging. The extra capacity and more efficient processor give the Reno 16 longer screen-on time.
Cameras
Both smartphones have triple rear cameras with telephoto and ultra-wide sensors.
The Reno 15 Pro Mini features a 200-megapixel main camera, while the Reno 16 uses a 50-megapixel primary sensor.
Both include 50-megapixel telephoto, ultra-wide, and front cameras.
The higher megapixel count on the Reno 15 Pro Mini offers greater cropping flexibility and high-resolution photography.
The Reno 16 relies on Oppo's updated computational photography and AI imaging features from ColorOS 16.
Software and AI
Both run ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 with five OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
