A grandmother in Georgia has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children after her 2-year-old grandson drowned in a pool, authorities said.
Emeliza Paz-Santos, 54, was booked into the Fulton County Jail on Wednesday, according to online records. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also placed a detainer on her.

Roswell Police Department said the toddler, Axel Delgado, drowned in a clubhouse pool on the night of June 21.

First responders performed life-saving measures and rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.

During the investigation, police reviewed witness statements and surveillance footage. They determined that Paz-Santos failed to provide adequate care and supervision for Delgado, leading to the drowning.

The Fulton County District Attorney's Office issued an arrest warrant, and Paz-Santos surrendered to authorities on July 14.
