Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Note 17 in China, a budget smartphone that pushes the boundaries of screen size and battery capacity.
The device features a 7-inch flat OLED panel, the largest ever on a Redmi phone, effectively bridging the gap between a smartphone and a small tablet.

The display offers 2396 x 1080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 1,800 nits for outdoor readability.
It also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, Wet Touch 2.0 for damp hands, and a dedicated glove mode.
To support the large screen, Xiaomi equipped the Redmi Note 17 with an 8,000mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver up to 2.33 days of typical usage.
The phone supports 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing it to act as a power bank for other devices.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 17 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, a 4nm chip focused on efficiency.

It comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
On the software side, the phone runs HyperOS 3 with AI-driven security features.
An integrated anti-fraud system uses a large language model to detect and block script-based scam calls.

Additionally, a tool can identify AI face-swaps during video calls, issuing real-time warnings.
The Redmi Note 17 also boasts an IP65 water resistance rating, an infrared blaster, multifunction NFC, and microSD card expansion up to 2TB.
Pricing and availability
The Redmi Note 17 is available in Black, Shallow Aqua, and Meteor Purple.
The base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at 1,299 yuan ($192).
The 8GB + 128GB variant costs 1,399 yuan ($206), while the top-end 8GB + 256GB model is priced at 1,599 yuan ($236).
