DJI has reached a record 72.5% share of Japan's video camera market, according to BCN Ranking data.

This marks the highest level the company has ever achieved in the segment.

For comparison, rival Insta360 accounted for approximately 12.5% during the same period. The significant gap highlights DJI's growing dominance in the Japanese market.

Osmo Pocket Series Drives Growth

A major driver of this success is the Osmo Pocket lineup, particularly the newly launched Osmo Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P.

The compact gimbal camera went on sale in late April and quickly climbed to the top of sales rankings in Japan.

BCN reports that the standard Osmo Pocket 4 alone captured roughly 21.5% of all video camera sales in the country within just nine days of availability.

Other DJI models, including the Pocket 4P and older Pocket 3, also ranked near the top of the charts.

The overall video camera market in Japan saw a 158.1% year-over-year increase in sales volume in April 2026, with total revenue rising 135.2%.

DJI's rise appears to be boosting the broader market.

The company's success is likely due to how well its products align with current content creation trends.

Compact cameras with built-in stabilization have become popular among vloggers, travelers, and social media creators seeking better video quality than smartphones without the bulk of larger setups.

The Osmo Pocket series has carved out a strong niche by combining stabilized footage, simple controls, and relatively compact pricing in a pocket-sized device.

While DJI is best known for drones, it has been expanding into creator-focused imaging products.
